Drags
Aloud was created with the merger of two of Melbourne's best know drag troupe's,
The Showbags
(Amanda Monroe and Jessica James) and The
Manly Sisters (Jackie Stevens, Jillette Jones and
Kris del Vayze) in early 2007.
On
the success of their hit production shows The Sound of
Music Drag Show (Melbourne international Comedy
Festival 2007 and Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2007) and
Grease - The Drag show, the two troupe's decided that
a join production name should be taken to avoid
confusion.
After
much discussion on a new name for the troupe, the name
"Drags Aloud" was taken from the Channel 31
Television Series, of which all cast members had been
apart of.
